Granisetron Hydrochloride is a highly selective 5-HT receptor antagonist that inhibits nausea and vomiting reflex signaling by blocking 5-HT receptors in the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. Its core use is to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery, especially for vomiting caused by highly emetic chemotherapy drugs such as cisplatin and cyclophosphamide.

🔹 Application & Function

Granisetron Hydrochloride blocks 5-HT receptors at the end of the vagus nerve in the gastrointestinal tract, cutting off vomiting signals to the medullary vomiting center. It is effective against abdominal and pelvic radiotherapy-induced nausea and works pre-emptively for surgical procedures to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).
